Mike, my parents, my brother Jeff and I took a little trip to Pagosa Springs over the weekend. It’s about 5 hours South of Denver, right next to the New Mexico border. Some friends of the family that we’ve known since I was little — the Harper’s — live down there so we thought we’d make the trip before the snowy winter weather starts up. The drive was a bit long but overall we had a lot of fun.
We got up to Pagosa on Friday night. Saturday was a hot air balloon festival in the morning, but Mike and I slept right through it. =) We all went for a short hike afterwards though.
On our way to the trail these cows were just hanging out in the road and were in no hurry to move.
The gang (minus Tiffany’s husband): Jeff, my mom, Mike, me, my dad, Tiffany, Josiah, Julie and John
It seems we like hiking to waterfalls… =)
The other highlight of the trip was a visit to a very yummy candy store — the Choke Cherry. I bought $35 of candy and ate so much I felt sick that night. But I still had room for more in the morning. =) They have the best home made caramel and fudge. Oh yeah, and the animal droppings are amazing. No, not real animal droppings! They’re chocolate covered caramels dipped in various nuts, depending on the type of dropping. I ate bear and deer — yummy! =)

Only you would eat animal dropping candy!!!
And so much that you got sick too!! The hiking part sounds really fun – and I didn’t realize that Colorado and New Mexico were so close. I know where they each are on the map, I just didn’t notice where they were in relation to one another!
